Understand this condition

Prostate cancer spans a wide risk range. Some grows slowly, while some requires more active treatment.

How it is assessed

PSA, examination, relevant MRI, biopsy, and Grade Group inform risk stratification. A raised PSA does not automatically mean cancer.

Care pathways

Selected active surveillance, surgery, radiation, or systemic treatment depend on risk and spread. Biological fitness and patient preferences matter.

Important distinctions & limits

Discuss urinary control, sexual function, and hormonal effects before treatment. A robot name does not determine surgical suitability or outcomes.

One diagnosis, several care specialties

Read the video transcript
  1. Understand the disease type first. An organ name is not enough. Pathology, stage, and general condition give context.
  2. Each specialty has a role. Medical, radiation, and surgical oncology may work together according to the case.
  3. An MDT brings perspectives together. A multidisciplinary team discusses findings and options. Team composition depends on the case.
  4. Bring clear questions. BKC supports coordination. Diagnosis and medical decisions remain with licensed clinicians.
