Understand this condition

The maxillary sinus lies in the cheek beside the nose and below the eye. Tumours here belong to the sinonasal group.

How it is assessed

ENT assessment, endoscopy, biopsy, and CT or MRI clarify relationships to bone, the eye, nerves, and skull base.

Care pathways

Surgery and radiation may be considered with other treatments according to tumour type and extent. Reconstruction, facial function, and vision matter.

Important distinctions & limits

Sinusitis and sinus cancer are different. Persistent one-sided symptoms need examination, but symptoms alone do not establish a diagnosis.

One diagnosis, several care specialties

Read the video transcript
  1. Understand the disease type first. An organ name is not enough. Pathology, stage, and general condition give context.
  2. Each specialty has a role. Medical, radiation, and surgical oncology may work together according to the case.
  3. An MDT brings perspectives together. A multidisciplinary team discusses findings and options. Team composition depends on the case.
  4. Bring clear questions. BKC supports coordination. Diagnosis and medical decisions remain with licensed clinicians.
