Understand this condition

Endometrial cancer starts in the uterine lining, distinct from cervical cancer and some tumours arising in uterine muscle.

How it is assessed

Postmenopausal or unusual bleeding needs assessment. Ultrasound provides context; an endometrial sample helps establish the diagnosis.

Care pathways

Surgery can be central for appropriate cases. Histology, stage, and molecular profile inform additional radiation or systemic treatment.

Important distinctions & limits

Ultrasound thickness is not a pathology result. Fertility-preserving options require carefully selected circumstances and specialist supervision.

One diagnosis, several care specialties

Read the video transcript
  1. Understand the disease type first. An organ name is not enough. Pathology, stage, and general condition give context.
  2. Each specialty has a role. Medical, radiation, and surgical oncology may work together according to the case.
  3. An MDT brings perspectives together. A multidisciplinary team discusses findings and options. Team composition depends on the case.
  4. Bring clear questions. BKC supports coordination. Diagnosis and medical decisions remain with licensed clinicians.
